Recently, good news came from the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Survey & Design Association: four achievements submitted by the Institute of Chemical Engineering—namely, “Engineering Design Technology for Continuous High-Temperature Crystallization Production of High-Purity Manganese Sulfate,” “Engineering Design Technology for One-Step Production of High-Purity Potassium Nitrate via Nitric Acid Oxidation of Magnesium Oxide,” “Engineering Design Technology for Wastewater Treatment in the Brewing of Sauce-Aroma Baijiu,” and “Engineering Design Technology for Industrial Production of 1,3-Propanediol via Biofermentation”—have successfully passed the expert review organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Survey & Design Association for the year 2025 and have been granted proprietary technology licenses.

In recent years, the Institute of Chemical Engineering has been market-oriented and attached great importance to the protection of intellectual property rights. It has closely focused on the processes, technologies, and achievements it has cultivated over many years, encouraging research and development of scientific and technological innovations as well as the systematic summarization of groundbreaking and original technologies. In 2025, among numerous scientific and technological achievements, four proprietary technologies submitted by the Institute of Chemical Engineering stood out with distinctive features and prominent advantages; their overall technical level reached either domestic or international advanced standards, ultimately earning recognition from the association.
Engineering Design Technology for the Continuous High-Temperature Crystallization Process for Producing High-Purity Manganese Sulfate: This project’s design utilizes continuous high-temperature crystallization to produce battery-grade manganese sulfate, enabling the battery-grade manganese sulfate production facility to significantly outperform existing technologies in terms of investment, safety performance, production capacity, and energy consumption. It effectively addresses the challenges associated with evaporation and crystallization during large-scale production of battery-grade manganese sulfate, achieving continuous production while improving product quality and reducing energy consumption.
Engineering Design Technology for One-Step Production of High-Purity Potassium Nitrate via Magnesium Oxide Nitration: The nitric acid-magnesium oxide method for single-step recrystallization enables the stable production of high-purity potassium nitrate. This technology is a national first, and the quality of the high-purity potassium nitrate produced is remarkably consistent. The production equipment significantly outperforms its counterparts in terms of investment, safety performance, capacity, and energy consumption. The equipment can directly produce electronic-grade potassium nitrate products.
Technology for the Engineering Design of Wastewater Treatment in the Production of Sauce-Aroma Baijiu: Our company has developed an effective process for treating high-concentration baijiu wastewater. This process has now been applied to wastewater treatment projects at sauce-aroma-style baijiu distilleries in Guizhou and Hunan provinces, yielding remarkable treatment results and ensuring that the effluent consistently meets discharge standards. This process will also be gradually implemented in other wastewater treatment projects at sauce-aroma-style baijiu distilleries. Upon completion of these projects, pollutant emissions will be significantly reduced, water pollution will be alleviated, river water quality will be greatly improved, overall costs for wastewater treatment in the watershed will be lowered, and the quality of the baijiu industry’s development will be enhanced.
Engineering Design Technology for Industrial Production of 1,3-Propanediol via Biological Fermentation: The process adopted in this project’s design is the latest technology developed by Tsinghua University. It utilizes glycerol—a byproduct of biodiesel production—and employs a biofermentation method to produce 1,3-propanediol. The process flow is a domestic first, and the product quality is exceptionally high, with overall quality indicators surpassing those of both domestic and international peers, reaching internationally advanced and industry-leading levels.
As a provincial-level chemical engineering design institute, a specialized, sophisticated, and innovative enterprise at the provincial level, and a joint graduate training base for industry-education integration at the provincial level, the Institute of Chemical Engineering boasts strong and time-honored technical expertise and a deep-rooted technological foundation. Its technologies feature distinct “specialized, sophisticated, and innovative” characteristics and enjoy clear advantages. The Institute holds three key technology innovation platforms: the “Provincial Enterprise Technology Center” designated by the Hunan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology; the “Municipal Electrochemical Energy Storage Materials Technology Innovation Center” established by the Changsha Municipal Science and Technology Bureau; and the “Municipal Enterprise Technology Center” set up by the Changsha Municipal Development and Reform Commission. In the course of project design, the Institute adheres to the principles of “safety design as the top priority, green design as the core philosophy, innovative design as the core competitiveness, and intelligent design as the direction of development.” It has accumulated profound technical expertise in areas such as the reliability, applicability, and safety of process flows, as well as in the rationality and advancement of technologies and various process technology routes. Moreover, the Institute has amassed extensive engineering experience in process package design and the engineering implementation of experimental equipment. By 2026, the Institute of Chemical Engineering will further intensify its efforts to explore and enhance proprietary and patented technologies, strengthen awareness of proprietary technology protection, and transform these proprietary technologies into market competitiveness, thereby making even greater contributions to the company’s technological innovation and business growth.
