Recently, the Chemical Institute won the bid for the zinc-based composite material R&D, preparation, and industrialization project of Hanzhong Zinc Industry Co., Ltd., covering zinc-based powder, flake zinc-based powder, special powder, and additive manufacturing fields, further consolidating the Chemical Institute's advantages in the industrialization of fine spherical metal powders such as aluminum powder and zinc powder, as well as its leading position in the application of chemical process technology in specific domestic fields.
The project is located in Mian County, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, with an investment of approximately 450 million yuan. It includes the construction of a new production line for 20,000 tons of spherical zinc-based powder per year, a 5,000-ton flake zinc-based powder production line, a 1,000-ton special powder and additive manufacturing production line, as well as corresponding supporting facilities and public auxiliary facilities. The technical services include planning design, preliminary design, construction drawing design, and related technical services during the trial production phase.
Hanzhong Zinc Industry Co., Ltd. is affiliated with Shaanxi Nonferrous Metals Holding Group. It is a modern state-owned holding enterprise that integrates nonferrous metallurgy, scientific research and design, and domestic and foreign trade, with a registered capital of 1 billion yuan. It mainly engages in the production and sales of lead, zinc, industrial sulfuric acid, and precious metal series products. It has formed an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of electrolytic zinc, 60,000 tons of electrolytic lead, 700,000 tons of industrial sulfuric acid, and 2,300 tons of metallic calcium, and has the capability to comprehensively recover more than 10 kinds of valuable metals such as AU and Ag. Its zinc production capacity ranks among the top three in the domestic industry, making it a major contributor to the industrial output value and tax revenue of Hanzhong City. Zinc ingots have won the "Gold Cup Award" for product quality from the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association for six consecutive years and have been awarded the title of "Shaanxi Province Famous Brand Product." They are registered products of the Shanghai Futures Exchange and the London Metal Exchange.
In recent years, the Chemical Institute has continuously focused on the industrialization and process technology iteration of fine spherical metal powders in the fields of aluminum powder, zinc powder, etc., using nitrogen atomization to produce fine spherical metal powder. A professional technical team led by professors and registered chemical engineers has been established, and the performance of related project investments is at the forefront and leading position in the country.
