Recently, the Institute of Chemical Engineering signed engineering design contracts for two major projects: the 135,000-ton-per-year caustic soda project of Laos Hengguang Sodium-Magnesium Technology Co., Ltd., an overseas investment by Hengguang Technology, and the 40,000-ton-per-year sodium chlorate and 10,000-ton-per-year potassium chlorate project of Hengrun Chemical Wholly-Owned Co., Ltd. These achievements highlight the institute's strong technical expertise and renowned brand reputation in the specialized caustic soda sector—including sodium chlorate and potassium chlorate applications.
This project is located in Khammouane Province, Laos, with a total investment of approximately RMB 250 million. It represents a significant step for Hunan Hengguang Technology Co., Ltd. in implementing its overall development strategy, expanding its business footprint, meeting the needs of overseas customers, and enhancing its competitive edge. Established in 2008, Hunan Hengguang Technology Co., Ltd. was listed on the ChiNext Board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2021. The company is a high-tech enterprise dedicated to the research, development, manufacturing, sales, and services of chemical raw materials and advanced新材料 products. Currently, it operates three major chemical industry park bases—located in Huaihua, Hengyang, and overseas (Laos)—and has become a prominent, comprehensive circular chemical enterprise with substantial influence across Hunan Province and surrounding regions. Additionally, it serves as the leading enterprise in the fine chemical new materials industry within the Huaihua Torch Characteristic Industry Base. Both Laos Hengguang Sodium-Magnesium Technology Co., Ltd. and Hengrun Chemical Wholly-Owned Co., Ltd. are wholly-owned subsidiaries under its umbrella.
The Institute of Chemical Engineering, as a provincial-level chemical design institute, a specialized, sophisticated, and innovative enterprise of the province, and a "Postgraduate Joint Training Base" integrating industry with education at the provincial level, boasts distinct "specialized, sophisticated, and innovative" characteristics and significant advantages in its respective industry. It is a renowned professional design institute in China's caustic soda sector, celebrated for its mature and extensive project achievements, and holds a prestigious reputation for its cutting-edge technology in the niche area of caustic soda production. The institute already has a substantial portfolio of projects that have been put into operation. After several expansions, JianTao (Hengyang) Industrial has achieved an ion-exchange membrane caustic soda production capacity of 420,000 tons per year, establishing itself as a major hydrogen-alkali production base in Central and South China. The facility employs advanced, energy-efficient production processes and equipment, ensuring that all waste heat, wastewater, and exhaust gases generated during manufacturing are fully treated and recycled. The company has successively undertaken engineering design projects both internationally and domestically, including the 250-ton-per-day caustic soda preparation system for Boschke Indonesia’s Jiwi Kimis alkali plant in Indonesia, the 150,000-ton-per-year zero-gap ion-exchange membrane full-halide caustic soda upgrading project in Qianjiang City, and the 200,000-ton-per-year ion-exchange membrane caustic soda project for Dongyang Guangdong’s Luyuan facility, among others. Additionally, the EPC project for the relocation of Jiangmen Guangyue Electrochemical’s 81,000-ton-per-year caustic soda plant—signed in 2023—is now poised for commissioning and startup. The successful execution of this project further underscores the Chemical Engineering Institute’s growing expertise and breakthroughs in the chlor-alkali industry.
